CSR – The gift of giving!
Compagnie des Tabacs Comme il Faut is proud of its role as a leader in social commitment and its dedication to philanthropy. It has distinguished itself by its innovative operating style, redistributing its profits to its employees and to the local culture, sports, health, and educational activities. For many years now, the company has brought its support to diverse development projects and socio-cultural activities to the benefit of the Haitian population in general.
Among other contributions is the assistance the company gives to the orphanage “Nos Petits Frères et Soeurs”, supporting their needs in lodging, food, clothing and education while helping them develop their intellectual capabilities. Compagnie des Tabacs Comme il Faut strongly believes there is a bright future for Haiti. This is the reason why the company also supports other nonprofit institutions that are making a difference in Haitians’ lives in hopes of a better future: Hospital Bernard Mevs – Medishare, Haitian Education & Leadership Program (HELP) and the technical school Timkatec.
Our Wells Project was launched on May 2nd, 2008. Since then, the company has implemented 68 artesian wells as a donation to the residents of Clercine, Cité Soleil, Marchand Dessalines, Léogane, Hinche, and many more, serving more than 80,000 people. We also donate water containers to the population with each well that we implement. We take pride in providing the Haitian population with more than 37 million gallons of water per year. We will continue our cooperation with other communities to determine the best placement for wells. Water is life and we are moving forward to expand the opportunities for clean water as we address a need that 60% of the population faces, which is access to clean, safe drinking water.
We are proud to continue our long standing tradition of good corporate citizenship in Haiti. We support the communities in which we live and operate; we strive to be a responsible corporate citizen and we carry on this proud tradition that started in 1927.
Initiated by Jean-Dany Pierre-François, Vice-President of Public Relations at the Company, “Coupe Comme il Faut” is a corporate soccer tournament that has been quite successful ever since it started in 2000. It continues to be the symbol of unity between our employees and the participating Haitian businesses. All the teams are comprised of employees of participating companies, who become their ambassadors on each day of the tournament.
Our soccer field, named “Parc Jan Van Doorn” in honor of one of the company’s presidents, has witnessed many of these soccer tournaments that aim at reinforcing the ties among participating businesses for a better entrepreneurial climate. With a dynamic committee, consisting of Company employees, the organization of this event is a reflection of our desire to satisfy our guests in the same manner that we have been satisfying our consumers since 1927. The entire community is concerned with this event whose magnitude and notoriety have been established. A strong economic activity takes place in the vicinity of our compound on the game days, and the Haitian culture is expressed through the shows of many young talents who take advantage of this open space to blossom.
Twenty plus year later, Coupe CIF has established itself as one of the most popular events in the community.
